President

Terra Halcomb

Terra Halcomb is the current President. She was a KAMSS member before COVID and was part of the group that helped start KAMSS back up. She is currently an Associate Director of Credentialing at OB Hospitalist Group working remotely.  She has worked in the Medical Staff Office for around 10 years at a hospital in eastern Kentucky. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and going to the lake.

Dana Thomas

Dana Thomas, JD, MHA, CPCS, CPMSM, CPES, is the Assistant Director of Medical Staff Affairs at UK HealthCare. Prior to this position, she served as the Associate Director and as an Enterprise Credentialing Specialist. The Medical Staff Office at UK HealthCare performs the credentialing, privileging, provider enrollment, and peer review services for more than 2000 clinicians and has been named the official Data Steward for provider data at UK HealthCare. Dana received her CPES from NAMSS in 2025, her CPMSM certification in 2020 and her CPCS certification in 2019. She received her Masters in Health Administration from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and her Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2007.

Veronica Ann Shepherd

Baptist Health Lexington

Veronica Shepherd is the current KAMSS Treasurer and has been a KAMSS member since 2004.  She is the Operations Manager for Medical Staff Services and Health Information at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, Kentucky.  Veronica has held the Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification since November 2004.  She is a certified Change Agent and completed her Green Belt certification in Process Excellence Methodology.  Veronica is a native of Lexington, Kentucky.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, doing crafts, and reading.

Beckie Herron

Baptist Health Louisville

Beckie Herron, MA, CPCS has been the Director of Credentials Verification for Baptist Health System in Kentucky and Indiana since Aug 2022.

Beckie has 30 years of experience in healthcare with a focus in leadership, managed care credentialing, quality management, medical staff services credentialing and privileging and CVO application processing.

Past employment includes Director Medical Staff, Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health La Grange, KY 2014 – 2022; St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, AR; University Physician Associates in Louisville, KY (UPA/ULP), The Physicians Incorporated (TPI), Aperture, Managed Care Associates, Ten Broeck Hospital, Our Lady of Peace Hospital.

Beckie holds a Master of Arts in Health Services Management and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Biology.

Professional organizations include National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) member since 1998 and Kentucky Association Medical Staff Services (KAMSS) member since 1999 (president 2002 and 2021).

Beckie has been married to husband Brian for 29 years. She has one daughter, Brooke, who graduated from the University of Cincinnati College majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Business and is engaged to be married March 2027. Beckie loves dogs and will always canine fur babies in her family.

Karlee Stinson

Karlee Stinson is the Credentialing Training Manager at Ob Hospitalist Group. She has worked in the Medical Staff Services field for the past 9 years. Her primary focus is streamlined credentialing and reducing physician administrative burnout. When she is not working, Karlee spends her time with her husband of 11 years and their three young children. She enjoys gardening, sewing, and planning home projects that keep her husband busy.

Paula Bargo

UK HealthCare

Paula Bargo CPMSM, CPCS, CPES serves as the Director of Medical Staff Services at the University of Kentucky and has been in this position for 23 years. During this time, the Medical Staff Office has expanded from 562 to more than 2,400 providers. In 2013 she won the University of Kentucky Supervisor of the Year Award and in 2022 she won the Amy R Wilson Award which is awarded to a UK HealthCare employee who exemplifies UK HealthCare's core values and the professional qualities and compassionate service that characterized Amy.
